PTA Reflections

PTA Reflections Contest

"Reflections" is a fine arts competition for students sponsored by the National PTA. The theme for 2014-2015 is "The World Would be a Better Place if...". Please have the students express their creative thoughts on paper (poem, story, drawing, painting, photograph, Photo collage), in a choreographed dance, or by composing music that addresses the theme.  The Student entry form and participation rules are on the PTA website. The last date for submissions is October 27th, 2014.

Math SuperstarsMath Superstars
The Math Enrichment PTA program has started, and we had an overwhelming 56% participation for Grades 1-5! Complete Worksheets 3 and 4 (it's not too late to go back and catch up if you want the extra points, but it's not necessary) and the class that participates the most (by grade level) will earn a frozen treat from Blue Bell Ice Cream. Please click on the STAR for more information.

Red Ribbon

Red Ribbon Week 10/27-10/31

Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug prevention and education and a personal commitment to live drug free lives with the ultimate goal  being the creation of a drug free America. To show support for drug free week we will have the following dress up days:

"We won't let drugs WEAR us down!"
Students are encouraged to wear RED clothing
"Sock it to Drugs!"
Students are encouraged to wear crazy socks
"Team Up against drugs!"
Students are encouraged to wear their favorite sports shirt or Sommer T-shirt
"Don't let drugs TIE you down!"
Students are encouraged to wear a tie
"R.E.A.D. Day- Really Excited About Drug Free!"
Students are encouraged to dress as their favorite book character
(students must wear a name tag or bring the book of their character. No other costumes will be allowed)

Important Note:

Crossing guards are hired through the City of Austin.  We currently do not have a crossing guard for the Palmbrook/ Indina Hills area.  If possible, please walk with your younger children; have your child walk with friends; and remind them to follow pedestrian rules.  This is another reason to be extremely careful when driving through the neighborhood!

Being a crossing guard is a great way to support our school and community.  It is for just a few hours in the morning & afternoon.  If you are interested or know someone who may be interested in being a crossing guard, please call Esperanza Schiele at 512-565-5623.
