Campus News 08.17.2017

Hello Howdy to all of our new Stallions!

And a warm Welcome Back to those returning!

This year, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Patsy Sommer Elementary School. Our theme for the year is #10YearsOneFamily.  According to Merriam Webster, one definition of the word, family, is “a group of people united by a common purpose”.   This purpose is one that we take very seriously as we are joined by our common mission to Empower and Inspire World Class Leaders and Life-Long Learners.  We are also extremely blessed that our family extends beyond our school walls as we have the most supportive community anywhere!  We truly recognize that our success relies on the partnership between school and parents. We take pride in our relationship and welcome you to join us in One Purpose; One Family!

Our teachers have been working very hard over the past few weeks preparing their rooms, participating in teambuilding and professional learning activities and planning lessons that not only cover grade level standards, but empower students to think critically as they identify and solve problems, collaborate with others, explore creative solutions, and communicate their thinking in a positive manner.  We are READY & excited to begin a new year!!

Things to Know:

  • Class lists will be posted in the entrance hall of the school and outside windows today at 4:30.  You will also receive a welcome email from your teacher before 4:00.
  • Stallion Supply Round-Up/Meet the Teacher is tomorrow.  We have staggered the times this year alphabetically by last name to avoid the possibility of a stampede.
  • 1st Day:  You may walk your children to their classes on the first day of school.  After that, we encourage you to have them ride the bus if it is available, use our valet car rider line, or drop them off at the doors.  If you want to walk them in, we ask that you use the “Hug Zone” and then allow your Stallions to walk to class on their own.  We will have teachers stationed throughout the halls to help our little ones and all new students find their classrooms.
  • Traffic:  Currently, we have 1235 students enrolled at Patsy Sommer.  This will create a large amount of traffic flowing through the neighborhood and our campus parking lot.  We have changed our traffic patterns this year to (hopefully) improve the flow of traffic for our Sommer students as well as those attending Pearson Ranch Middle School.  PLEASE help us by having your children ride the school bus in the mornings or walk/ride their bikes to school!

We are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow! If you are not able to attend, supplies may be taken to class on the first day of school.  Watch for my next email with more details on first day of school, traffic flow and other important information!
