Campus News 03.26.2018

Hi All,

Happy Spring!  Although I am getting used to the darker drive into school in the mornings, I do love the spring weather & extra evening sunshine! With April and May does come Spring Fever!  We are so blessed to have absolutely outstanding students who want to learn, are compassionate & care for one another.  Please stress with your child the importance of remaining focused on learning, completing their work and being world class leaders”!!

Our teachers and staff work very hard to ensure that together we create an environment that is safe, nurturing and conducive to learning.  I encourage you to trust that we continue to have the needs of all students at heart.  Although not perfect, our goal is always to do what is best for each one of them. Patsy Sommer is an amazing school community!  Please help us to model courtesy and respect for our children.  If you have a question or concern, do not hesitate to contact our teachers or administration directly.  (Celebrations are great, too!)

Celebrations:

Speaking of Celebrations…Honoring & valuing our students accomplishments in the areas of academics, citizenship, fine arts, athletics and leadership are extremely important to us.  Because many activities such as boy scouts, girl scouts, chess, robotics, etc happen outside of the school setting, we may miss out on some achievements.  If your child participates in these activities and has participated in a tournament, etc. or you would like to recognize them;  please complete this Google form:  Sommer Stallion Recognitions  Send pictures to me and our new school communications contact and office assistant, Rachel Guiry, rachel_guiry@roundrockisd.org.

Traffic & Safety:

Just a Reminder…Please follow all traffic and safety rules when driving on campus and in school zones.  Be mindful of the posted speed limit, avoid using electronic devices (even if hands’ free), observe all safety rules and follow the directions of school staff.  We do have police officers patrolling the area. and tickets were given this morning.  We appreciate your support!

Innovation Station Family Nights:

Have you heard of our Sommer Stallion Innovation Station?  It is a wonderful place where our students come to simply explore areas such as fine arts, technology, construction, etc!  Our Patsy Sommer Innovative Council would like to invite you to a night of fun!  Come join us on from 6-7 pm April 3 (K-2) or April 4 (3-5) to Create, Play & Innovate with your family! (If you have more than one child, pick a night!) It will be fun!!

APEX Fun Run:

Thank you again for your overwhelmingly generous support of our campus through the APEX Fun Run!  Over spring break, we received the final report from the company, and the results are simply amazing! All donations go directly to our campus activity fund and will support innovation and student learning for the next few years.  I am attaching the complete campus results for your information.  All teachers and staff had the opportunity to provide ideas and feedback on campus needs and wishes.  We will have a committee meet to determine the spending of the money in the next few weeks.  Each teacher will notify their class of their 10% amount.  These teacher funds will be spent this school year in order to benefit his/her students.

On Tuesday morning, we will have principals from the RRLC meeting on campus and visiting classrooms; and on Wednesday, we will have visitors from Parkside Elementary and Leander ISD touring to see the ways that we provide challenge and outstanding learning opportunities for our students.   Thank You for all that you do to support our campus!  #10YearsOneFamily
